GLOBE 08, The Mediterranean Makes a Come-Back

The second edition of Globe, the international tourism trade fair for the promotion of the Mediterranean and South Europe, will take place at Rome’s Nuova Fiera trade fair centre from 13th to 15th March.

The second edition of Globe, the international tourism trade fair for the promotion of the Mediterranean and South Europe, will take place at Rome’s Nuova Fiera trade fair centre from 13th to 15th March. Apart from the negotiations at the fair, there will also be additional opportunities for making contact in the city streets, namely: Globe in the City, Job@globe and Investment@globe

Globe08 will take place from 13th to 15th March 2008. The big players of international tourism will meet at the Rome fair, for three days of negotiating to promote the Mediterranean and South Europe. According to the World Tourism Organisation, this basin, which already accounts for 33 percent of foreign tourist movement with 262 million tourists arriving from all over the world, will have an increasingly important role on the international tourist scene.
At Globe’s debut last year, 29 thousand visitors, over 1100 exhibitors and about 900 national and international tour operators interested in buying the Mediterranean product gathered at Rome’s Nuova Fiera; this year it is increasing services and expanding the offer, thus confirming its role as a market place where business involves all participants.
The innovative formula of an all-encompassing fair offers market operators various opportunities for meeting. Besides the business-to-business negotiations, other events will take place in the streets of the historic city centre: Globe in the City, events in town dedicated to the final consumer. The “White Weekend” for holiday and sports lovers is on the agenda for 16th March. This coincides with the Rome Marathon and will thus guarantee even more visibility. Job@globe is the initiative dedicated to young people and students seeking work in the world of tourism, as well as to those who want to keep updated or to advance professionally in their career. Over 4000 curricula were collected last year and many profitable contacts were followed up. Investment@globe, programmed for 13th and 14th March in the prestigious location of the Hotel Melià Roma Aurelia Antica, is the tourism, finance and real estate market place which promotes new synergies and business opportunities between operators of the sector and the world of finance and real estate.
Globe can also be proud of a unique programme as regards the high percentage of hosted buyers, prevalently national and international tour operators, who take part in the fair at the invitation of the organisation, to buy the Mediterranean Product. 30 percent come from Europe, 25 percent from Asia, 20 percent from the USA, 10 percent from the Middle East, 10 percent from North and South America, and the remaining 5 percent from other countries.
Last but not least, Globe will host Art Cities Exchange (A.C.E) for the second time running. This is a trading point for the Art Cities organised by ENIT, the national tourist board. It is a highly significant appointment in which about 300 very carefully selected tour operators and foreign travel agencies will take part.
“ENIT was very keen to have this trading point” the Chairman, Umberto Paolucci, stated, “precisely because of the positive fallout generated in favour of improved perception of our catalogue of art cities and for the development of relations between the operators who wish to meet the demand for international art tourism and those who provide our offer”.

Globe08 is organised by ExpoGlobe, 51% of which is held by Fiera Roma, and 49% by TTG Italia spa, a company belonging to the Rimini Fiera Group, specialist for over 30 years in the management and organisation of business-to-business events for tourism.
