Syria and Italy to activate tourism and investment

Rome, Italy – Syria Tourism Minister Saadallah Agha al-Qal’a on Saturday reviewed with Governor of Lombardy Roberto Formegoni and Mayor of Milan Letizia Moratti ways of strengthening foundations of the real partnership with Italy in fields of tourism and investment and stimulating the tourism movement between the two countries.

Rome, Italy – Syria Tourism Minister Saadallah Agha al-Qal’a on Saturday reviewed with Governor of Lombardy Roberto Formegoni and Mayor of Milan Letizia Moratti ways of strengthening foundations of the real partnership with Italy in fields of tourism and investment and stimulating the tourism movement between the two countries.

Efforts exerted to support the tourism sector in Syria in the field of training and rehabilitation and the possibility of setting up a Syria-Italian Academy to provide the trained workers were also discussed.

The Italian officials expressed interest and appreciation for Syria to obtain the
first rank in the competitive report for 2007 issued by the International Davos Forum, pointing out that Syria is at the forefront of the world states in terms of security and stability that encourages investors to invest in.

In a speech during the Syrian-Italian workshop, the Minister spoke about the reality of tourism sector in Syria and the promising prospects and the available opportunities of investment in addition to the facilities provided for tourists.

In a statement to SANA, on the sidelines of participation of Tourism Ministry in the tourist exchange exhibition (bit 2008) held in Milan, Agha al-Qal’a said that his meetings with Italian officials came in the framework of activating the promotional work for tourism in Syria through the promotional activities and holding meetings with major tourism companies and senior officials job, and journalists for explaining developments of tourism work in Syria and the results achieved in this area and reviving movement of tourists to Syria.
