The Captain of Egypt Air flight 955 on Wednesday morning did not take a chance and declared an emergency. He safely landed the Airbus A330-220 in Urgench, Uzbekistan. Urgench is 840 kilometers (600 miles) west of the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.

The reason was a bomb threat, Egyptian officials said.

All 135 passengers and crew on board the Airbus were evacuated and the aircraft was being searched.

EG 955 took off at 11.35pm from Cairo and three hours later landed in Urgench. This happened after an anonymous caller called a security agents at the Cairo airport to say a bomb was on board the flight.

The agents immediately contacted the aircraft and ordered it to land at the nearest airport .In Russia, the news agency RIA Novosti quoted unnamed officials as saying the airport has been closed following the EgyptAir plane’s emergency landing.
