‘I killed tourist’, says letter

Police investigating the death of a British tourist on a Valentine’s Day trip to Venice are examining an anonymous letter from someone who claims to have killed him after they had a row on a bridge.

Richard Raynor, 23, disappeared after an argument with his girlfriend, Katie Robinson, 21, following a romantic meal in the Italian city ten days ago.

Richard Raynor, 23, disappeared after an argument with his girlfriend, Katie Robinson, 21, following a romantic meal in the Italian city ten days ago.

Ms Robinson had wanted to return to their hotel, but Mr Raynor insisted on having another drink. His body was later found underneath a bridge. He had drowned.

The mystery letter, written in Italian, was sent to the Italian state broadcaster RAI yesterday.

A Venice police spokesman said: “The death of Mr Raynor is being treated very seriously. As such, this letter is also being treated seriously.”
