SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The Puerto Rico Convention Center is currently hosting the second International Tourism Expo (ETI) May 11-14. The event brought nearly 60 exhibitors from a variety of countries, including Nevis, U.S. Virgin Islands, Belize, St. Croix, Antigua and Barbuda. In addition, approximately 400 participating travel agents from North America, Spain, Germany, Colombia, Caribbean, United Kingdom, Panama, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Canada, as well as 16 investors from China are in attendance.

“We welcome the second year of ETI with great enthusiasm as this represents an economic impact of approximately $700,000 for the country’s economy. This year, we scheduled more than 3,600 business appointments with the tourism industry and added a pavilion dedicated to destination weddings,” said Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC) Executive Director Ingrid I. Rivera Rocafort.

As part of the expo’s events, PRTC designed a program for travel agents and investment groups to visit various attractions across the Island. Members of the media will also join in on these activities as a way to gain greater exposure for Puerto Rico as a destination.

“ETI is an integral part of PRTC’s initiatives to promote the Island as a leading destination in the Caribbean and demonstrate its ability to successfully coordinate and host convention groups and businesses,” said Rivera Rocafort.
