BUDAPEST, Hungary – For some time Lyon had been a highly-desired destination for Budapest Airport, but yesterday saw the Central European airport welcome the inaugural flight of easyJet’s thrice-weekly service to France’s third biggest city. Celebrating in the now well-known sporting-style of the Hungarian gateway, the low-cost carrier’s new link faces no competition, and means the potential of an extra 40,000 passengers for Budapest.

Commenting on the significant development, Kam Jandu, CCO, Budapest Airport said: “Last year we recorded an indirect traffic flow of 20,000 passengers to Lyon, a steady year-on-year increase which more than demonstrated the vast potential for both business and leisure travellers on this route. Our dedicated promotion of this prospective market has come to fruition and we look forward to welcoming easyJet’s passengers on this important link.”
