FRANKFURT, Germany – Public speaking is often one of the greatest fears of business life and can prevent many from reaching their full career potential. Jonathan Bradshaw, a professional speaker who has presented in over 30 countries, helped attendees to improve their ability in this crucial area at a session at the Inspiration Hub, home to all show floor education at IMEX in Frankfurt. Jonathan, CEO of the Meetologyยฎ Lab, shared his practical experience combined with behavioural research from his team of psychologists during The Meetologyยฎ guide to public speaking. His advice included three steps to overcoming nerves and how to open and close a presentation ad was very well received by attendees.
Jonathan is set to deliver the keynote address at IMEX America this October. His session at the show today is one of many focusing on personal and professional development as part of Business is Personal, a new theme for the show. Business Skills and Personal Development educational tracks explore this theme with sessions on leadership skills, developing confidence and fostering strong connections.
The Business is Personal theme can also be explored off the show floor, via meditation and yoga sessions in the new Be Well Lounge sessions, brought to you by InnerSense and supported by Weichlein Tours + Incentives and Munich Convention Bureau. This morning, buyers and exhibitors enjoyed an energetic start to the day at the IMEXrun, inspired by Rio de Janeiro. The IMEXrun, which attracted 800 registered participants, is one of a wide variety of wellbeing features and part of IMEXโs sustainability initiatives, designed to help attendees balance busy days of business with healthy sports activity.
Sustainability was explored further in Organising high performance sustainable events โ a case study of an SAP global event series. Pranav Sethaputra, Group Sustainability Consultant, MCI Group and Roger Simons, MCI Groupโs Sustainability Manager for the Asia Pacific Region and GMIC President, hosted an interactive workshop exploring how SAP implemented sustainability in their dkom event series in India, China, US and Germany. In a session covering strategy to implementation, measurement, and communication, attendees gained practical tips on how to innovate and use sustainable event strategies to increase employee wellbeing, improve delegate experience and drive environmental performance while boosting brand reputation, costs and social impact.
Visitors came away with a toolkit of best practices on how to implement sustainability into their next event as one of the attendees, Irma Astrauskaite from Interreg Europe in France, explains:
โโSustainability is such a hot topic and Iโm certainly looking for ways to introduce elements into my events. This session gave me some really useful top tips.โโ
Tanja Hagelberg, from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, adds: โโThe use of a case study was a great way to shed light on core aspects of sustainability โ every aspect of the organising process was covered from beginning through to end.โโ
