The Area Manager Seychelles for Ethiopian Airlines, Meseret Tekalign, has confirmed to the islands’ Tourism Board that a delegation from Ethiopia will participate on the carnival and that they will perform selected Ethiopian traditional dances and fly their country’s flag high alongside all the countries from the Community of Nations.

A call was made for countries that are proud of their culture to come forward and be part of the annual United Nations Cultural Gathering in Seychelles from April 22-24. Ethiopian Airlines has taken the call by Seychelles to heart and has facilitated for a delegation from Ethiopia to represent their country in the coming 2016 edition of the annual Carnaval International de Victoria.

Ethiopia will also have a dedicated tent at the carnival with the country’s traditional show and offer the beautiful Ethiopian traditional coffee ceremony. “This was one of the big shows when President Obama came last year to Ethiopia,” said Meseret Takalign of Ethiopian Airlines.

“This will be one more African country coming out to showcase their culture to the world using the carnival in the Indian Ocean. We salute Ethiopian Airlines for making this happen. Tourism is consolidated for everyone only when businesses all work together for the one objective, and the support by members of the tourism trade in Seychelles for this year’s carnival is remarkable,” said Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, at today’s briefing on the carnival by the Tourism Board’s CEO Sherin Naiken.
