A strong mission of tour operators from Tanzania is heading to South Africa to take part in World Travel Market (WTM) Africa scheduled for next week.

The World Travel Market Africa is the leading B2B exhibition for the inbound and outbound African travel and tourism markets.


Through its industry networks, global reach and regional focus, WTM Africa creates personal and business opportunities providing the customers with quality contacts, content and communities.

Led by the Karibu Travel Market Tanzania officials, Tanzania delegation is anticipated to showcase the countryโ€™s unsurpassed tourism attractions.

โ€œKaribu TMT, a famous locally owned global brand of tourism fair would be leading the Tanzaniaโ€™s participants on WTM Africa to be held in Cape Town, South African from 6th to 8th April 2016,โ€ says CEO of Tanzania Association of Tour Operators (TATO) Mr. Sirili Akko.

With over 200 companies confirmed to participate, the Karibu TMT mission is optimistic to meet some participants in WTM Africa in advance before their travel to Tanzania.

The 16-year-old Karibu TMT touted as one the leading travel show in Africa, would to be held at Magereza grounds near Arusha airport on May 27th โ€“ 29,th in 2016.

โ€œWe expect more international delegates this year,โ€ he explains. He urged TATO members and other tourism stakeholders to encourage their partners from within the EA region and overseas to take part in the show that would be graced by the natural resources and tourism Minister, Prof Jumanne Maghembe.

Karibu TMT is an annual business-to-business exhibition for travel industry professionals, according to TATO CEO.

The event also hosts the suppliers of travel and tourism products to showcase the latest developments in the travel industry.

โ€œIt brings together the largest global industry gathering of destinations, tour operators, hotels, airlines, technology and online travel services under one roof and covers a diverse range of sectors within the travel and tourism industry,โ€ Mr. Akko explains.

Tanzania, the East African country’s stunning wildlife, expansive volcanic crater and intriguing islands all set it apart as a unique destination. Massive Mount Kilimanjaro just adds to its allure.

The Indian Ocean laps Tanzania’s eastern edge between Kenya and Mozambique, and the “spice island” of Zanzibar is 22 miles off the mainland.

Sometimes called “Africa’s Garden of Eden,” some 25,000 large animals live in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, which stretches across 3,200 square miles of the southeastern Serengeti Plains adjacent to Serengeti National Park.

The 12-mile-wide Ngorongoro Crater is the area’s crown jewel. The largest unbroken caldera in the world, it is thought to have formed after an active volcano collapsed about 2.5 million years ago.

Well over a million wildebeest pass through the area during the annual Great Migration, one of the planet’s most remarkable natural spectacles.

From December to March each year, wildebeest, zebras and other animals gather near Lake Ndutu on the edge of the conservation area.

From there they move north, eventually ending up in the Northern Serengeti and Kenya’s Maasai Mara in the fall.
