The US Coast Guard is investigating the report of a plane crash just up river from Astoria-Megler Bridge in the US state of Oregon.
According to the United States Coast Guard, the report said a plane may have crashed into the water. The Coast Guard is currently searching for a crash site.
A witness in the area told local KGW news there was plane fuel on the water. A coast guard spokesperson said there was evidence of a sheen on the water, but no wreckage has been found.
Astoria, Oregon, is located on the Columbia River at River Mile (RM) 13, just upstream of Youngs Bay, and downstream of Tongue Point.
Situated near the mouth of the Columbia River, the city was named after the American investor John Jacob Astor
