INDIA (eTN) – In a significant development in the aviation scene in India and abroad, Jet Airways is setting up a hub – a European gateway – in Amsterdam, where the airport, Schiphol, is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Jet Airways will from March 27 start daily non-stop flights from India to Amsterdam, enhancing the connectivity between India, Europe, and North America. Jet Airways will link both Mumbai and Delhi with flights to The Netherlands, which has a large Indian ethnic population and gets over 95,000 tourists. Jet will also operate a daily flight from Amsterdam to Toronto.

Jet Airways Director Gaurang Shetty said in Delhi on March 21 at an impressive media meeting that the strategic partnerships with KLM and Delta will mean greater connectivity and seamless travel from India to key destinations in Europe and North America.

Top brass of KLM, Delta, Netherland tourism, and the Ambassador of The Netherlands, Alphonsus Stoelinga, were also present at the launch announcement media meeting.

The ambassador said that students, agriculture, and tourism had good prospects from India. With a population of 15 million, the country gets an equal number of tourists.

Holland can be explored as a city, as all the places of interest can be reached within an hour from Amsterdam.

Brussels was earlier the hub in Europe for Jet Airways. Shetty said that the move was a commercial business decision.
