Great success for Seychelles in Berlin at ITB

Germany remains one of the main source tourism markets for Seychelles and Europe as a whole continues to produce 62% of the tourism business for the islands. ITB saw the announcement by CON
DOR Airline of their second weekly flight to Seychelles as from September this year and Qatar Airways announcing that it is reintroducing its Seychelles service as from mid-December this year with seven flights per week.

Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture said as he left Berlin that the ITB Tourism Trade Fair 2016 was a success for the islands. “Seychelles was being represented by a large delegation and together we managed to keep the flag of our country flying high” said Minister St.Ange. Present also in Berlin was Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board, Edith Hunzinger, the Seychelles Tourism Board’s Manager based in Germany and Bernadette Willemin, the Director for Europe for the Seychelles Tourism Board.

For this year’s Carnaval International de Victoria in April it has been confirmed that Germany is sending two carnival delegations. For the first time both Dusseldorf and Koln Carnivals will be parading in the streets of Victoria with their German Flags. This will continue to help raise the awareness of Seychelles in Germany as both German delegations will be followed by an armada of German press.

“We were happy to see so many of our private sector trade standing who believe in Germany as a source market stand with the island’s Tourism Board to help us increase the visibility of our islands” said Minister St.Ange.
