Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture was yesterday on CNBC International (Squawk Box Europe – CNBC’s flagship show) with channel Anchors Geoff Cutmore and Karen Tso.
“Seychelles remains a press-friendly destination and members of the international press are always invited to explore and experience our islands so that they can then become ambassadors of our country across the world,said Alain St.Ange this during his live interview on CNBC news television channel.
Minister St.Ange was speaking to Squawk Box’s Anchors Geoff Cutmore and Karen Tso on Seychelles’ tourism industry.
Squawk Box is a business news television programme that airs at breakfast time on the CNBC network.
Minister St.Ange said tourism is the pillar of the Seychelles economy so island depend on tourism fully for its survival.
“We know we have the natural beauty but we also know that we need to be seen as good custodians of what we have so that tourism can work today and tomorrow,” Minister St.Ange said.
“We need to make sure that a person who comes to Seychelles is a person in his own rights not just a number or just someone occupying a hotel room.” said the Seychelles Minister.
“Seychelles has worked on a plan of consolidating what we have, protecting what we have and ensuring it will be there for the future” Minister Alain St.Ange said.
“Today Seychelles is more connected than it has ever been before to the rest of the world. We have about five planes landing at our international airport on a daily basis compared to the past whereby we were limited to one national airline. We have open our doors to the world and we work with key partners. Most of the main hotel chains of the world are today in Seychelles and we treat them as our bona fide guest investors in our country,” Minister St.Ange said.
“We are also pushing for our people to be keep being involved in our tourism industry so that we can consolidate this sector for the long term. It is vital for our Seychellois people to feel that they are part and parcel of the industry to ensure that they defend their tourism industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy. Today we know that the world at large is always looking for a new destination and we have been able to remain in vogue across decades since we have become independent from Great Britain”, added Minister St.Ange.
