ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) – the voice of the global business travel industry – today announced US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Administrator Peter Neffenger will be a featured speaker at GBTA Convention 2016, July 16-20 in Denver, Colorado. Administrator Neffenger will speak at Center Stage on Tuesday, July 19.

“We are pleased to welcome Administrator Neffenger to the stage for GBTA Convention 2016. Business travel is undeniably linked with TSA as business travelers hit the road for 40 million trips a month and depend on TSA’s consistent efforts to improve the traveler experience while ensuring aviation security,” said Michael W. McCormick, GBTA executive director and COO. “TSA has faced enormous challenges this year and our attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from the Administrator what the future holds for TSA.”

Vice Admiral Peter Neffenger was confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Transportation Security Administration’s sixth administrator in June 2015. He leads a workforce of nearly 60,000 employees, including the Federal Air Marshal Service, and is responsible for security operations at nearly 450 airports throughout the United States and shared security for highways, railroads, ports, mass transit systems and pipelines.

Under his leadership, TSA is continuing to evolve as a risk-based, intelligence-driven, professional counterterrorism agency dedicated to protecting the U.S. transportation systems.

Before joining TSA, Neffenger served as the 29th Vice Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard, a position he held since May 2014. Prior to this, Neffenger served as the Coast Guard’s Deputy Commandant for Operations, where he directed strategy, policy, resources and doctrine for the employment of Coast Guard forces globally.
