KINGSTON, Jamaica – Hundreds of runners from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados and Cayman Islands are scheduled to travel to Kingston on the weekend of March 13 for the 4th staging of the annual Kingston City Run.

The I/2 marathon, 5K and 10K races will take place around Kingston on Sunday March 13, and the event was created to raise funds to aid the homeless in and around Kingston. The sporting event was also designed to create a larger presence for Kingston as a fascinating travel destination loaded with a kaleidoscope of attractions.

Jamaica’s greatly admired Olympian and track superstar Veronica Campbell-Brown is the event’s ambassador, and Kingston City Run is expected to grab the attention of thousands of local runners too from Kingston as well as from rural parishes. The event starts on Friday night with a carnival party. Saturday is a Lifestyle & Fitness Expo, and Sunday’s race day will close out with an awards ceremony and a farewell party.

“When asked to lend my support to this cause, I did not hesitate because no matter how much we have accomplished, we must always help the least of us in times of need”, Olympian Veronica Campbell-Brown stated. Kingston City Run will make contributions to Marie Atkins Night Shelter, Open Arms Drop In Center, Food For The Poor, Missionaries of the Poor and The Alpha Institute.
