INDIA (eTN) – Industry veteran Anil Bhandari, Chairman, AB Smart Concepts, former CMD of India Tourism Development Corporation, has called upon the young professionals in the hospitality industry to help make India a truly incredible destination and make full use of the resources available.

He was the chief guest at the 6th India International Hotel Travel and Tourism Research Conference and the 7th Indian Hospitality Congress annual conference, at the Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, in New Delhi, on February 10.

The three-day meet has attracted many research papers on a wide range of subjects, such as single woman travelers, attrition issues, human resources, beach shacks in Goa, and employee motivation.

Bhandari asked the students to see the huge potential in the food and beverage industry as also in food packaging, which should attract them to become entrepreneurs.

In his keynote address, Dr. Paolo Mura, from Taylor”s University, Malaysia, raised the interesting subject of qualitative and quantitative research in hospitality, asking the youth to not be afraid of change. Mura said that Asia should not copy the west and come out with its own paradigms.

Even if the number of papers published in quality journals is less, it is important that stress be on quality, he said.

Steve Borgia, CMD, INDeco Leisure Hotels, asked the delegates and students to see India with new eyes, as there were tremendous opportunities in the country, where ideas were needed, and not money as such.

On February 11, Manjula Chaudhary, former Director IITTM, Gwalior, will be the keynote speaker. On February 12, the focus will be on hospitality education.
