CHICAGO, IL – Captain Todd Insler, a 22-year veteran of United Airlines and long-time ALPA volunteer, was elected Chairman of the United Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association this afternoon.

Captain Insler, a Boeing 767 Captain based in New York, will succeed Captain Jay Heppner, who has served two terms as Chairman of the United MEC.

Captain Bob Fox, an Airbus 320 Captain and 19-year UAL veteran, was reelected Vice Chairman, First Officer Bill Neveu, an Airbus 320 First Officer and 19-year United veteran, was elected Secretary, and First Officer Rick Cameron, a Boeing 777 First Officer and 20-year United veteran, was reelected Treasurer.

“Defending pilot careers is not just a job but a great source of pride for me,” said Captain Insler, who previously served the United pilots as MEC Grievance Committee Chairman. “Results are achieved through collaborative efforts. Leadership and unity are key. And, together, we must work to defend our agreement, focus on unifying our pilots and work to inspire the pilots we represent.

“We stand up for our pilots to ensure our collective voice is heard. We work to make people whole, to protect their livelihoods and thus their families. At the end of the day, we work together to make people’s lives better. This is the opportunity we all have before us.”

The new slate of officers will begin their two-year terms on March 1, 2016.

“It has been a distinct honor for me to serve my fellow United pilots over the years, including as Chairman of the United MEC,” said Captain Heppner. “We faced some difficult issues head on, perhaps none more difficult than navigating this pilot group through the United/Continental merger. I am ready to work with Captain Insler and the other Officers to ensure that there is a smooth transition and to help them continue serving United pilots as effective leaders from Day One.”
