Effective February 1 Dubai’s Emirates will switch from the current Airbus A340 to the larger Boeing B777-300ER on the route to Lusaka and Harare.

The change of aircraft will add nearly 100 more seats, benefiting both the Zambian and Zimbabwean capitals, a reflection of sustained and rising demand for travel to and from both countries.

The extra seats will support the tourism trade in Zimbabwe and Zambia as the marketing campaigns by both tourism boards begin to show results with higher visitor numbers. The best known attraction shared by two countries, the Victoria Falls, is a highlight on any African safari itinerary, as are the Zimbabwean and Zambian national parks. Besides wildlife, some of them are rich on historical sites like Zimbabweโ€™s ancient ruins of Great Zimbabwe, the cave paintings at Matopos Hills or Worldโ€™s End in the Matobo National Park, where Cecil Rhodesโ€™ remains are buried at the Malindidzimu Shrine.

Fastjet and Air Zimbabwe fly regularly from Harare to the newly upgraded airport of Victoria Falls, while Proflight serves the route from Lusaka to the city of Livingstone, making visits to the worldโ€™s largest waterfalls easy.
