Ministers from Madagascar and Seychelles were at the FITUR Tourism Trade Fair of Spain, and yesterday met following the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) Regional Commission for Africa (CAF) to discuss regional cooperation. It was at this meeting that Minister Ulrich Andriantiana of Madagascar confirmed his intention to be present at this year’s carnival to Minister Alain St.Ange of the Seychelles.

Minister Ulrich Andriantiana, the Madagascar Minister of Tourism, Transport and Meteorology, yesterday confirmed to his Seychelles counterpart that the “Big Island of the Indian Ocean” will be present at the 2016 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria in Seychelles.

Only last week it was reported that Mauritius and La Reunion islands had also given their thumbs up to the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands event that is staged annually in the Seychelles. This year, the carnival will be staged from April 22-24 in Seychelles, and again the best and most popular carnivals of the world from Brazil, Notting Hill of the UK, Dusseldorf of Germany, Italy, and Indonesia are all expected to be present and to parade together following cultural delegations from the Community of Nations.

Minister Alain St.Ange has thanked his Madagascar counterpart for the confirmation and said that the 2016 edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria is set to be another great carnival event on the equator.
