Star Alliance member Air India had a bad day today. Rats, dogs and a catering van were part of it. An Air India plane flying from Mumbai to London has been forced to return. The reason: A rat on board.
The pilot returned to Mumbai keeping passenger safety in mind. The aircraft was fumigated and checked before it is returned to service, a spokesman said.
Passengers were later flown by a separate aircraft to London.
Air India had two other mishaps within a day. Not a rat, but a stray dog exploring the runway forced another Air India pilot to aborted takeoff from a northern Indian city.
Another Air India plane from Mumbai was hit by a catering van at Liberty airport in Newark, New Jersey,USA.
