Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, accompanied by Anne Lafortune, his PS for Tourism, visited the Maia Resort on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. This visit had been organized following a meeting between Minister St.Ange and the Resort’s General Manager Mr. Ernst Ludick. Unfortunately the Resort’s GM was not in the country when the Minister and his entourage visited the resort and other properties in that part of the island of Mahe. “These hotel visits help to keep us in touch with the front line team of our tourism industry. This is and will remain an important part of our work,” said Minister Alain St.Ange.

During the visit, Minister St.Ange had the opportunity to go around the establishment and meet with a number of staff in their individual workplaces as well as meet with a number of the team in the staff canteen during their lunch break. “We discussed in a frank and open manner the challenges facing the staff, and our duty is to now meet with the resort’s management to follow-up on points raised during the visit,” said Minister Alain St.Ange and PS Lafortune. The Maia Resort staff members have also requested to meet with the Minister on a one-to-one basis as a follow-up to his visit at the resort. The Ministry of Tourism and Culture is currently making arrangements to have this organized.

Minister St.Ange is also making arrangements to meet with the resort’s head office team in the near future to discuss matters raised by the team at Maia Resort.
