The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) together with four representatives from the tourism industry are taking part in the Travel Industry Exchange (TIX) held in Florida, USA from September 15-17, 2015. The main objective of participating in TIX is to attract high end tourists from North America. The Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC Mr. Mohamed Aseel is attending the fair as the head of the Maldives Delegation.
Travel Industry Exchange (TIX), is a new event that will bring travel advisors and lifestyle specialists together with destinations, cruise lines, spas, resorts, hoteliers, tour operators and transportation providers focused on the leisure and tour and travel markets. Travel Industry Exchange debuted, featuring one-to-one appointments, networking events and educational programs designed to help travel professionals and suppliers build on their specializations and grow their businesses. The event will offer comprehensive and diverse conference programming including over 60 sessions focused on niche markets and designed to help agents increase their business through specialization. The delegation from Maldives will be able to generate important leads from the market with the help of this system.
MMPRC took part in a session at the Wedding and Romance category where a destination presentation was given and a Visit Maldives Year Video was played. A raffle draw was taken at the end of the session and a 7-night free holiday was given to the lucky winner.
The Americas remained as the third leading market region with 3.4% shares at the end of December 2014. The region registered an outstanding growth of 24.5% with a total of 41,044 tourists at the end of 2014 with the U.S as the market leader accounting for more than 60% of arrivals from this region. U.S.A had a record of 16,434 arrivals with a market share of 2.3 from January to July 2015. More marketing activities will be carried out in America focusing the North American market.
A professional PR Agency has been appointed to represent Maldives in the North American market. Their role will be to assist MMPRC in developing a marketing strategy to effectively penetrate the U.S. market. The implementation of the strategy will help increase arrivals from the USA.
