The UNWTO conference in Medellin, Colombia, just concluded. The city was showcased as a city of peace and a reformed safer place for visitors and locals alike.
Numbers revealed clearly show the progress made in Medellin. This weekend, however, in a sad setback, an unidentified assailant shot an American tourist in the Colombian city of Medellin, killing the 65-year-old visitor.
The American, identified as John Mariani, was shot in the upscale El Poblado neighborhood, when getting out of his taxi. The case was identified as a murder robbery.
Mr. Mariani was rushed to hospital and was pronounced dead.
Authorities have offered a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
