NEW YORK, NY – China’s exclusive national carrier, Air China, officially announced today the launch of its new four times weekly nonstop service between Beijing and Newark on October 26, 2015. The new service will be operated by Air China’s new-generation three-cabin B777-300ER and will arrive at and depart from Terminal B3 at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). It will complement the double daily service to Beijing Capital International Airport (BCIA) from JFK International in New York.
“The new Beijing-Newark service is our response to the growing demand from the New York metropolitan area to China and beyond. Transpacific travelers from New York, New Jersey and Connecticut will benefit greatly from this increase in connectivity,” Mr. Yuelong Zhou, Air China’s General Manager stated.
“With our robust network and convenient connections to cities in China and Asia from our Beijing hub, our passengers will appreciate the options and flexibility our new Newark-Beijing service offers,” Mr. Zhou added.
Featuring state of the art green technology, the B777-300ER delivers better fuel performance and is much quieter than any other aircraft. With a spacious three cabin interior, ambient lighting and an enhanced entertainment system, the triple seven offers a smooth, comfortable experience. It features eight luxury suites in the Forbidden Pavilion (first class), 41 fully-flat sleeper seats in the Capital Pavilion (business class) and 259 economy seats with individual TV monitors and in-seat audio-video on demand. Air China is the only airline with nonstop services between New York and Beijing. It is also the only Chinese carrier serving Newark Liberty International Airport.

The Oct. 26th launch of the Beijing-Newark service follows Air China’s new Beijing-Montreal service on Sept. 29, 2015. It will be the first direct transpacific connection between Montreal and Asia. On Dec. 1 this year, the Beijing-Montreal service will continue on to Havana, the start of a new round-trip Beijing-Montreal-Havana service, the first by an international carrier in Asia.
By the end of 2015, Air China will have nonstop services between Beijing and ten gateways in North America: New York (2X daily); Newark (4X daily); Los Angeles (3X daily); San Francisco (daily); Houston (daily); Washington Dulles (4X/week); Honolulu (3X/week); Vancouver (daily), Montreal (3X daily) and Havana (3X daily).
On January 6, 2015, CA981 /CA982 between New York and Beijing was upgraded to Boeing’s newest and largest passenger wide-body aircraft, the B747-8i. On May 1 this year, the aircraft for Air China’s daily nonstop San Francisco-Beijing service was also upgraded to the iconic B747-8i. Air China’s B747-8i is the first in Air China’s fleet with a four-cabin configuration: Forbidden Pavilion, Capital Pavilion, Premium Economy and Economy. Air China is the launch carrier in Asia for Boeing’s 747-8i.
