MUNICH, Germany – 12 o’clock – high noon in the “Schottenhamel” beer tent: By tapping the first barrel of beer, Dieter Reiter started the 182nd Oktoberfest.

After his debut at the Oktoberfest in 2014, Dieter Reiter, Mayor of Munich, has started the Oktoberfest by tapping the first barrel of beer in the Schottenhamel tent. He improved last year’s performance of four strikes and drove the tap into the barrel with just two strikes this year, concluding the ceremony with the magic words: “O’zapft is!” – “It’s tapped!”

The first mug of beer was then handed to the Bavarian Prime Minister, Horst Seehofer.

Dieter Reiter ended the opening ceremony by wishing everyone a peaceful Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest.de would like to join Dieter Reiter with this wish and hopes that everybody will have a great time in Munich.
