Founder and chief executive officer of WawaJet, Alpha Diallo, announced that the airline will operate with Classic Boeing 737 aircraft – most likely -300 and -400 variants and it is thought to currently be sourcing aircraft ahead of its formal launch. No schedule for its final development has been revealed.

“This company has been created with 2 key objectives: to change the lifestyle of many people and to contribute to the growth of the West African economy” said Diallo. “WawJet will base its activity on fundamental values: be Different but be Simple in order to respond to the needs of the African population.”

A proposed start-up carrier in West Africa has emerged during World Routes, which plans to offer international flights within the region. WawJet registered to attend the leading global network development forum although it remains tight-lipped over its proposed activity.

In correspondence with Routesonline during the forum, founder and chief executive officer, Alpha Diallo confirmed that the carrier “will fly in West Africa” but its proposed network and “cities are not finalized yet”. The start-up is understood to be based at Gbessia International Airport in Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea.
