LOS ANGELES, California – The stylish and relaxed, romantic and fun Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club is located in Grenada in the West Indies. The property is home to 22 luxury villas and hacienda suites set within acres of colorful tropical gardens around the main clubhouse. All have spectacular uninterrupted views over the turquoise waters of the Caribbean and two miles of white sands of the renowned Grand Anse Beach. Idyllic rainforest and waterfalls, magnificent birds and wildlife and glorious reefs teeming with marine life are just some examples of the natural beauty found in nearby surroundings.

Green Globe congratulates the Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club on its recent certification in recognition of the commitment by management and staff to sustainable practices.

Jonnel Edwards, Reservations Manager said, โ€œMount Cinnamon is very proud to have achieved Green Globe Certification this year. The property has always prioritized sustainability as part of our overall management plan, and we saw it fit to go the extra mile. We are a small boutique resort with just over 60 staff members, and consider the entire team our green team. However the individuals selected to lead the green team were meticulous in their efforts to improve their individual departments with regards to environmental sustainability.โ€

Senior management and staff members all contribute to the resortโ€™s Sustainability Management Plan. Reduction targets for energy, water and waste volume have been set at 5%. And as part of its environmental initiatives LED lighting is installed at the resort, eco-certified cleaning products are used to reduce the propertyโ€™s impact on the environment and compost is used in landscaping and gardening divisions.

Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club prefers locally sourced goods and produce.

Also, to further support regional development, the restaurantโ€™s chef is actively involved in educating suppliers in the community on environmental sustainability and Green Globe objectives. In this way, the resort informs and trains local suppliers about the benefits of running a sustainable business. Suppliers have included a local chicken farm and a goat farm that produces organic goatโ€™s cheese.

โ€œWe particularly take pride in our farm-to-table restaurant, as well as our very own herb and vegetable garden. Our next big step will be getting our guests involved in our recycling program, most of whom choose to stay at our resort based on our commitment to protecting the environment. The Mount Cinnamon team looks forward to improving our environmental management plan, whilst being guided by the Green Globe Standards,โ€ added Jonnel Edwards.
