Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, accompanied by David Germain, the Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board for the Americas & Africa, are on their way to Brazil to meet with major media and trade players from the tourism industry. Their visit at the invitation of Emirates aims to strengthen partnership with the airline working with South American tour operators for traffic from Brazil to Seychelles. “Emirates remains a very important business associate that is key to increase even more the number of Brazilian and South Americans tourists to the islands,” said David Germain and Gisele Abrahao from the Tourism Board’s Brazil office.

Minister Alain St.Ange, who is on his way to attend the General Assembly of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organization) in Colombia is stopping in Brazil at the invitation of Emirates for a tourism trade event.

“Seychelles tourism continues to work locally as we know we need to work globally. Keeping us visible will ensure we remain relevant,” said Minister St.Ange to the Brazilian press in a phone interview. When the minister was asked about this invitation by Emirates for a dedicated press and travel trade event in Sao Paulo he replied: “Our Tourism Board has always believed that our islands need shared connections to create the visibility we require. We know that we have to have a shared drive into our different target markets, as we keep focused on where we are going on our set plan of action. We know that as leaders we need to know where we are going to inspire others to go with us. South America and the Americas remain a target market for Seychelles, this we all know and this is why we keep on working with partners to help us develop this potential market,” said Minister St.Ange.

On September 9 and 10, Minister Alain St.Ange and David Germain, the Director of the Seychelles Tourism Board for the Americas & Africa, accompanied by Mr. Stephane Perard, Emirates Airlines General Manager for Brazil, will meet with the top media publications, such as Folha de Sao Paulo, the biggest newspaper in the country that reaches out to hundreds of thousands of people; the R7, the second biggest online portal with an audience of more than 60 million people every month; and Panrotas, the biggest trade publication in the country. Besides the individual interviews, they will also participate in a breakfast with major bloggers and freelancers journalists.

A special dinner, sponsored by Seychelles Tourism Board and Emirates Airlines will happen on September 9 from 7:30 pm until 10:30 pm and will see the participation of the 30+ top tour operators of Brazil. โ€œThese activities are very important to enhance exposure on Seychelles in the market and create new opportunities that will increase demand of Brazilians tourists to our beautiful islands,โ€ said David Germain.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) .
