Seychelles confirms Praslin Culinary and Arts Fiesta

A meeting at the Domaine de La Reserve Hotel that took place at the end of last week has re-confirmed that the second edition of the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta will take place from September 4-6.

The meeting that was chaired by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, and gathered together the two Praslin MNAs, the Hon. Volcere and the Hon. Esther, as well as the two Praslin DAs, Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism Jimmy Savy, the CEO of the National Arts Council (NAC), a police representative and other government officials, Praslin hoteliers, and other tourism professionals.

The meeting was called to discuss the 2nd edition of the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta and to get feedback with interested parties on Praslin itself on what they wanted to see organized for their fiesta.

Minister St.Ange opened the meeting by thanking everyone who helped stage the first edition of the event that was organized to help position as the island for good food and the island that is rich in Seychellois arts. “As we thank everyone who helped stage the first edition of the Praslin Fiesta, we say that we rate counting on all of you to help stage this coming second edition. This is your fiesta, and we shall stand with you to help make it happen, but it remains a Praslin event by the Praslinois,” said Minister St.Ange.

After lengthy discussions, it was agreed that the dates for this year’s event would be September 4-6. The Friday evening will be a night where hotels and restaurants on Praslin will be invited to create Creole specialties and advertise for dinner dances. Music and dancing will be replicated in the two District Administration Centers for a “Bal Creole.”

Saturday morning will see the official opening of the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta that would coincide with an Arts Exhibition and the Culinary Competition. The stall last last year will be erected at Cote D’Or where everyone may gather for fun and enjoyment.

The Praslin Committee is currently putting final touches to the program, but everything is now confirmed for everyone to meet on Praslin from September 4-6 for the 2nd Edition of the Praslin Culinary & Arts Fiesta.
