SAN DIEGO, CA – Two small planes collided over Otay Mesa in eastern San Diego County on Sunday morning, killing 4 and injuring 1, authorities said.
The aircraft — a twin-engine Sabreliner and a single-engine Cessna 172 — crashed into each other about two miles northeast of the Brown Field airport at about 11 a.m., according to the FAA.
Two grass fires were ignited by the crash debris near Lone Star Road west of Harvest Road. The fires were extinguished within an hour.
According to the officials, four bodies were found in the wreckage.
