A terrorist generated blast targeting an army bus occurred this morning (02nd January) in Slave Island area in Colombo. Front side of a small hotel situated in the vicinity has partly damaged as a result. No tourists have been injured. 

On the instruction of Tourism Minister, Milinda Moragoda, the Deputy Tourism Minister Faizer Musthapah, visited the scene immediately after the incident.

On the instruction of Tourism Minister, Milinda Moragoda, the Deputy Tourism Minister Faizer Musthapah, visited the scene immediately after the incident.
 
The Deputy Minister said, “There is no cause for alarm by the tourism industry as the security forces have taken all precautions to bring the situation under control”. Sri Lanka Tourism reiterates that his incident has no impact on Tourism what so ever.
 
In the city and elsewhere in Tourism areas normalcy prevails.
