The Federal Aviation Administration had reported a ground stop for many flights along the east coast due to a problem at the Washington Air Route Traffic Control Center.

The problem started with an automation problem at the FAA facility in Leesburg, Virginia.

Flights to and from Baltimore-Washington International, Newark International, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International, New York John F. Kennedy International, New York LaGuardia International and Tampa International experienedg delays because of the problem.

Washington National, Washington Dulles International, Philadelphia International, Miami International, and the Teterboro airports had been affected earlier in the day.
