UFA, Russia – As part of its commitment to open more than 150 new hotels by 2020, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE:HOT) today unveiled Sheraton® Ufa Hotel, a new build property located near the southern stretch of the Ural Mountains. Developed by Granelle Real Estate LLC, this hotel marks a Starwood debut in the oil-rich capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan.

“Ufa, as an emerging market, presents another tremendous expansion opportunity for Sheraton, and we are proud to be the first internationally branded upscale property to open in the region,” said Dave Marr, Global Brand Leader, Sheraton Hotels & Resorts. “Sheraton Ufa builds on the brand’s first mover advantage and we are excited to partner with Granelle Real Estate LLC to grow the Sheraton brand in Russia.”

Spread across nine floors, Sheraton Ufa features 150 sophisticated guest rooms and 11 plush suites designed by the internationally recognized Christian Lundwall. Each space boasts interplays of cedar wood evoking regional architectural styles and also comes equipped with air conditioning, a fully stocked minibar, and high-speed internet.

As part of a thriving industrial city rising from the windswept steppes, Sheraton Ufa appeals to business travelers. The property is within close proximity to key government institutions, banks, and multinational corporations—in addition to Congress Hall, the main conference center in the Republic of Bashkortostan. And for guests in search of cultural diversions, Ufa is also home to the prestigious Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Nesterov Art Gallery, the Bashkortostan National Museum, as well as other charming historical sites.

“Further underscoring our plans to aggressively expand in Russia, we are delighted to introduce our iconic Sheraton brand to Ufa,” said Michael Wale, President, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Europe, Africa and Middle East. “As the city continues to welcome travelers from around the world, we are confident that guests at the hotel will receive an unparalleled experience.”

An ideal choice for meetings and events, Sheraton Ufa has more than 9,500 square feet of function space across a ballroom and 13 versatile meeting rooms. Together these rooms can accommodate up to 1,000 individuals. Each space features top-notch audio-visual technology and is backed by an outstanding events team.

Sheraton Ufa offers a range of leisure facilities, such as Shine Spa for Sheraton™ and the state-of-the-art Sheraton® Fitness Center. Guests can stay connected in comfort in the Sheraton Club® lounge with its complimentary breakfast, all-day refreshments, and free Wi-Fi. With a modern ambiance, Novum Restaurant features a diverse menu of international fusion dishes à la carte. The lobby provides further space where guests can relax while enjoying unique cocktails and memorable culinary dishes.

The property is a 25-minute drive from Ufa International Airport, which has international connections to countries across Europe and the Middle East, as well as domestic flights to many Russian cities and towns. And with Ufa Railway station, a stop on a historic branch of the Trans-Siberian Railway, the city is further linked by train to the rest of Russia.

Starwood currently has seven hotels in Russia, representing five of its lifestyle brands—St. Regis®, The Luxury Collection®, Sheraton, W® and Four Points by Sheraton®. Sheraton Ufa Hotel is the third Sheraton hotel in the country, following Sheraton Moscow Sheremetyevo Airport Hotel and Sheraton Palace Hotel Moscow. The company will double its footprint in Russia over the next three years.
