INDIA (eTN) – From August 15, which just so happens to be Indian Independence Day, 36 more countries are being added to the e-Visa facility, making a total of 113 countries. Also, 7 more airports are being added to the list of airports where tourists can land to avail of this facility. This could be the best day for the tourism industry in India.
Nakul Anand, who heads ITC Hotels and is Chairman of the Federation of Associations of Indian Tourism and Hospitality (FAITH) – the apex body of the tourism industry with membership from all sectors, and Sarabjit Singh, FAITH Vice Chairman, have welcomed this decision, which has been a major demand of the industry. They have thanked Prime Minister N. Modi and other government leaders for implementing this step on an urgent basis.
Earlier, the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) had welcomed the inclusion of China to this list, which is expected to boost arrivals significantly.
