HONOLULU, Hawaii – A tropical storm watch has been issued for Hawaii Island as Hilda is forecast to pass near or over Hawaii Island as early as Wednesday night.
While Hilda is still a category 1 hurricane, it is expected to weaken to a tropical storm or depression as it approaches the Hawaiian Islands with the potential for heavy rain, high surf and high winds.
For travel safety tips, please visit the HTA’s Travel Smart Hawaii website and download the Travel Safety Brochure, which is available in English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese. Visitors should familiarize themselves with this information, listen to ocean safety officials and exercise caution when entering the water as high surf messages are issued.
The HTA will continue to provide any storm-related updates that may impact visitors.
