LISBON, Portugal – Since the beginning of this year PSP police have detained 32 taxi drivers working Lisbon’s Portela airport on suspicion of fiddling fees to cheat tourists.
According to newspaper reports, last weekend alone three taxi drivers, aged 46, 51 and 63 were caught unlawfully boosting their tariffs by adding on extras.
The drivers were detained after transporting tourists who had just landed in Lisbon to hotels in the city. The three vehicles were seized and the drivers have been charged.
