Singapore Airlines partners with Team Singapore

SINGAPORE — Singapore Airlines (SIA) is the official airline partner of Team Singapore after the national carrier signed an agreement with the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).

The three-year deal from now until April 30, 2018 will see Singapore’s athletes and officials fly on SIA for major Games, including the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the 2017 Asian Youth Games and the 2017 South-east Asian (SEA) Games.

SIA will also provide excess baggage for the athletes’ equipment, operational support for check-in and ground handling services, special in-flight related services such as provision of special meals, where necessary.

Singapore Airlines is honoured to extend support to our local sporting talents as they fly on us to represent Singapore in international events and bring the nation sporting glory,” said Mr Mak Swee Wah, Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial.

“Singapore Airlines has been very supportive in providing exceptional service and special dispensation to our athletes and officials travelling to the major Games in the past,” said SNOC secretary-general Chris Chan.

“Therefore, we are very pleased to welcome Singapore Airlines on board as our Official Airline Partner and share our journey to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and other major Games with them.”

The carrier has also supported the annual Singapore Sports Awards since 1999, and is the title sponsor for the Singapore Airlines Formula One Singapore Grand Prix.
