Legend of Indian music, Lakshminarayanan Shenkar, alias L. Shenkar, is on Reunion Island in the framework of the 8th Night of the Virtuosos (April 10-12, 2015). Exceptional violinist and singer, he has worked with big names in the international music scene like Frank Zappa, Madonna, and Sting, with Zoom virtuoso eclectic influences.

The BTTO Outdoor at BTTO Flowery Field and Luc Donat Theatre are the perfect opportunities to attend a performance of L. Shenkar.

Accompanying the greatest Indian musicians, including percussionist Zakir Hussain and ghatam player (percussion musical instrument idiophone shaped vase or pot) Vikku Vinayakram, L. Shenkar will collaborate with leading international artists. In the 70s, he joined the Mahavishnu Orchestra, founded by guitarist John Mclaughlin. A single member of the group initially, he later became the co-founder of the group Shakti, always alongside Mclaughlin.

In the late 70s, his solo career opened the doors of the world pop-rock scene. Thirty years later, L. Shenkar has an outstanding collection through musical collaborations of choice with the likes of Frank Zappa, Madonna, Jan Garbarek, Lou Reed, Talki Steve Vai, Ginger Baker, Toto, Jonathan Davis, and Sting to name a few. Praised on both the Indian and American scenes, the inventor of the double violin ten strings is now head of a directory to pop sounds, jazz, and rock that make up an authentic musical fusion โ€“ this is music not to be missed!
