Tourists to be charged for entry
The National Directorate of Migrations announced that it will charge 116 countries for the entrance visa, including the US and Canada, who apply similar measures to Argentineans. It is estimated that the agency will collect around US$12.5 million the first year that the regulation is in effect. The amount collected will be used to modernize the information systems of the immigration offices, and the exact amount will be proportional to that of the other countries.
One boutique hotel inaugurated per month in Buenos Aires
Boutique hotels are increasing along with the peak of foreign tourism in Buenos Aires; a new hotel of this type is opened per month in the capital. Currently, there are 34 boutique hotels in the city, principally distributed in the neighborhoods of Palermo and San Telmo. For the next two years there are eight more currently projected and under construction.
Pluna and Tam sign a shared code agreement
Pluna signed a shared code agreement with TAM so that both can take advantage of their respective structures and services, and in this way offer a better product to their passengers. The agreement with TAM assumes the acquisition of passengers that can be channeled through TAM to other destinations in Brazil, the US or Europe, and bringing or distributing TAM passengers from these places to Uruguay and the region.
Hilton to build in 5 cities
Hilton Hotels will build in 5 cities in Chile through its franchises. The chosen sites are Santiago, Puerto Mont, Concepcion, Calama and Rancagua. The chain is already looking for investors in Chile to establish its brand through franchises.
LAB operating again as of October 15

Touristic circuit Valle Sur to be promoted to increase attractions
The touristic circuit Valle Sur (South Valley) of Cusco, which covers around 20 km, will be promoted in order to increase the offer of attractions to visit in this department. To this end, five touristic development plans are being prepared to promote other destinations in the department, which include touristic development in the Espinar region with the Suicutambo canyon, the Calca development plan, which is home to Pisac, the largest artisan market in the country, and the promotion of Paucartambo as a natural balcony from which the sunrise can be viewed. The fourth plan covers the Canchis region, which houses the temple to the god Wiracocha, which is projected to be promoted along with the region’s hot springs. Finally, the fifth plan refers to the region of Quispicanchi, Ollantaytambo, Vilcabamba and the Capac Nan, or Camino Inca project, and will work with the INC.
Pyramid discovered near the archaeological region of Cahuachi
Italian scientists discovered an ancient pyramid near the archaeological region of Cahuachi, in Nazca while analyzing Quickbird satellite images, with which layers of rock and mud were blurred until the base of the pyramid was found. The investigators were able to optimize the quality of the images enough to obtain a detailed view of the base of the pyramid, which is 9,000 m2.
Pre-Inca city discovered in Yaurisque Cusco
An important discovery of a pre-Inca citadel belonging to the Late Intermediate period or the beginning of the Inca stage was made by investigators of the Qhapaq Nan Project of the National Institute of Cusco Culture, in Q’atupata of the Araykalla sector, a farming community in Anyarate, in the district of Yaurisque (Paruro). It is located on the side of the Apu Wanakaure hill, 15 kilometers from the imperial city, on the border of the provinces of Cusco and Paruro, on the Camino Blanca route, which is part of the Andean road system.
Santa Barbara Airlines suspends flights to Spain
Santa Barbara Airlines temporarily suspended its connections between Spain and Venezuela due to the decrease in traffic resulting from the economic crisis in Spain. The passengers affected by the cancellations will be relocated on flights on other airlines that operate the same routes. The airline operated direct flights between Caracas and the Madrid-Barajas and Tenerife-Norte airports.
Hilton to build hotel in Honduran Caribbean
Hilton announced the construction of a hotel in the Bahia de Tela in the Honduran Caribbean, a region in which a tourism complex is being developed with nation and foreign investment. The Hilton Hotels Corporation project in the Bahia de Tela will be called “Conrad Los Micos” as it is located around the Los Micos lagoon in the Tornasal sector of the Atlantida department.
