Lufthansa names new manager of passenger sales in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

Born in Hong Kong, Tobias Ernst began his career with Lufthansa in Frankfurt at the Cargo Department in 1985.

Born in Hong Kong, Tobias Ernst began his career with Lufthansa in Frankfurt at the Cargo Department in 1985. In 1989, he started as a trainee in Frankfurt to become a manager for sales and airport operations. Tobias Ernst has vast experience in passenger sales and marketing, as well as flight operations.

The overseas assignments of Tobias Ernst at Lufthansa German Airlines began as deputy manager for passenger sales in Bucharest, Romania. He further assisted with the set-up of flight operations in Tallinn, Vilnius and Minsk. In December 1993, he took over as sales manager in Accra, Ghana and after that in Novosibirsk, Russian Federation. In July 1994, he worked as general manager passenger sales and marketing in Bahrain and also responsible for Qatar.

In November 1996, Tobias Ernst moved to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam were he worked in the same capacity as general manager for Lufthansa German Airlines. Between 2000 and 2003 Tobias Ernst was in charge of Indonesia, based in Jakarta.

His next career step with Lufthansa took him to Hanover Airport, as Lufthansa station manager were he was responsible from 2003 to mid-2005. In July 2005, he moved to Algeria as general manager for sales and marketing in Algiers. From January 2008 to October 2008, he was general manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan, based in Lahore.

On November 1, 2008, Tobias Ernst takes over the responsibility as Lufthansa manager passenger sales, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.
