Bahrain to target Russian tourists at MITT 2015 travel exhibition

The National Tourism Board of Bahrain have confirmed their participation at the Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT) 2015 for the first time.

The National Tourism Board of Bahrain have confirmed their participation at the Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT) 2015 for the first time. The event will take place on the 18-21 March 2015 at the Expocentre in Moscow, Russia.

To strengthen the tourism exchange between Russia and Bahrain, Gulf Air, the national airline carrier of Bahrain, recently launched direct flights between the two countries. Furthermore, Bahrain have introduced a new visa on arrival system for Russians. The introduction of the new visa system will help simplify immigration procedures.

Yasmeen Kamal, Tourism Marketing and Promotion, Kingdom of Bahrain Culture & Tourism, comments: โ€œWe see targeting Russia as a prospect for us to strengthen our travel trade. The number of Russian tourists to Bahrain continues to grow. In 2011, the number of Russians visiting Bahrain equaled 10,630, and in 2014 there were 14,706 Russian tourists.โ€

Ms. Kamal continues: โ€œBahrain has a lot to offer the Russian market. The importance of the Bahraini โ€“ Russian bilateral relationship goes back to the established historical relations and the importance of promoting cultural and economic trade in ways that benefit both countries. Participation in MITT will contribute certainty to boosting cultural and tourism relations between these two countries.โ€

During MITT 2015, Bahrain will focus on presenting their luxury tourism packages to over 37,000 expected attendees. The countryโ€™s tourist activities will also be promoted, such as: theatre, art exhibitions, ballet and live music.

Bahrain will join other Middle East destinations, including: Jordan, Lebanon, Yemen, Fujairah and Sharjah.
