The Tourism Authority of Thailand Intelligence Centre (TATIC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with four strategic partners with an aim to bolster Thailand’s tourism growth based on a research-driven strategy.

The four strategic partners are: the Department of Tourism, Ministry of Tourism and Sports; the National Statistical Office of Thailand; Kasikorn Research Centre; and the Bank of Thailand.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of TAT said, “This MOU marks a significant step of the TATIC in its important role in facilitating knowledge generation on Thailand’s tourism industry. Under this MOU, TATIC and the four strategic partners will become a very strong platform representing an innovative research-driven module that will help bolster the country’s tourism growth.”

The five partners are set to work under a knowledge exchange strategy helping to gather and share valuable data on the trends and challenges in tourism, both domestic and inbound markets.

Mr. Thawatchai said, “TAT, as the organisation directly responsible for the marketing and promotion of Thailand’s tourism, recognises the growing competition in the world’s tourism scene. Hence, this partnership forms part of TAT’s many strategies to help establish and consolidate tourism information to foster innovation, collaboration, competitiveness and sustainable development.”

Marking the MOU signing ceremony was the seminar titled “The Big Picture: Thailand Tourism 2015” that saw high-level representatives from TAT and the four strategic partners on the same stage, sharing their wealth of knowledge on Thailand’s tourism as well as their informed outlooks and trends based on the research-driven approach at their respective organisations.
