Managing director of Turkey-based Universal Travel Services and vice president of Skal International Mrs. Hulya Aslantas has been elected as the new president of Skal International at the 69th Skal World Congress held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Skal International, founded as an international association in 1934, is the world’s biggest association of tourism and travel professionals. Skål is the ideal platform for “Doing Business among Friends,” and members are encouraged to network with other members in the 90 countries and almost 500 locations where Skål exists.

Skål Congresses are considered as the ideal meeting platform for members worldwide, not only to have a fun week together, but also to enjoy the privileges of being members of this prestigious organization.

Skål International cares about the environment and, following the United Nations declaration of 2002 as the Year of Ecotourism and the Mountains, launched the Skål International Ecotourism Awards during the World Congress in Cairns demonstrating its support of sustainable development and responsible tourism.

Skål International is an Affiliate member of the World Tourism Organization Business Council, one of whose missions is to promote ethics in business, particularly the Global Code of Ethics issued by the World Tourism Organization, which covers peace, the environment, security, pollution, human contacts and respect for local cultures. Skål International is also a member of the task force on the prevention of sexual exploitation of children in tourism and is one of the sponsors of the Code of Conduct drawn up as a result of this task force.
