Alain St.Ange has said to the press that he welcomes the appointment of Robert Desvaux as the new head of the Mauritius Tourism Promotional Authority (MTPA).

Alain St.Ange has said to the press that he welcomes the appointment of Robert Desvaux as the new head of the Mauritius Tourism Promotional Authority (MTPA). “I write on my own behalf, but also on behalf of Wendy Pierre, the Chairperson of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism; and Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board, to congratulate you on your appointment as head of the MTPA,” said Minister St.Ange in a letter to Mr. Robert Desvaux. This follows the news that the Mauritius Council of Ministers endorsed last Friday the appointment of Robert Desvaux at the head of the Mauritius Tourism Authority, the regulatory body of the Mauritian tourism industry.

Mr. Desvaux had the position as President of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority from September 2005 to February 2013 and during that time worked closely with his Seychellois tourism colleagues.

Mr. Desvaux has been very visible on tourism trade fairs across the world even after he had been replaced in his position as head of the MTPA by the Mauritius former Tourism Minister Sik Yuen. “We have met often at the different tourism trade fairs, and Mr. Desvaux has always been supportive of the regional work we were all doing to unite the Indian Ocean Islands under the Vanilla Islands banner,” said Minister St.Ange.

The Seychelles Minister said in his letter to Mr. Desvaux of the MTPA that he hopes that in the coming weeks a regional tourism meeting could take place to exchange ideas on the way forward for the regional organization of the Vanilla islands.
