The heavy weights of Asia-Pacific’s travel and tourism industry gathered for an evening of celebration at the 19th TTG Travel Awards 2008 Ceremony and Gala Dinner which honored 77 of Asia-Pacific’s travel trade organizations deemed the best by readers of TTG Asia, TTG China, TTGmice and TTG-BTmice China.

Held at Centara Grand and Bangkok Convention Center at CentralWorld, the gala event was attended by over 670 esteemed travel trade professionals.

This year’s awards spans across four categories, consisting of two voting and two non-voting categories. Recipients of the Outstanding Achievement Awards are hand-picked by the TTG’s editorial team for their remarkable achievements and contributions to the industry while honoraries in the Travel Hall of Fame are conferred after winning an award at the TTG Travel Awards more than 10 times.

TTG Travel Awards 2008 unveiled a total of 12 new awards under the Travel Supplier Awards category in bid to keep up with the ever-changing landscape of the travel trade industry.

The evening also saw new honorary, Star Cruises inducted into the Travel Hall of Fame, joining the existing four Travel Hall of Fame Honoraries in Asia-Pacific. The complete list of winners for the TTG Travel Awards 2008 is detailed in Annex A.

All readers of TTG China, TTG-BTmice China, TTG Asia, TTGmice and Daily News were invited to vote for their favorite travel and tourism organizations under the Travel Supplier and Travel Agent Awards Category, spanning over a period of three months, from June till August, 2008. The print and online voting exercise saw a whopping 43,000 TTG readers across the Asia-Pacific participating this year.

TTG Asia Media’s managing director, Mr. Darren Ng, said, “The addition of these 12 new awards this year highlights the importance for TTG to continue remaining relevant and in tuned with the way our industry changes so that it will always serve as the benchmark for industry excellence. It is our wish that the Asia-Pacific travel industry continues being competitive and constantly setting high standards of service excellence.”

The 19th TTG Travel Awards 2008 Ceremony and Gala Dinner is held on the last day of Asia Pacific’s leading MICE and corporate travel events, IT&CMA and CTW. The two trade events saw an attendance of more than 1,600 international attendees converging in one single location to seek new products, services and resources through a series of workshops, breakout sessions, conferences and an exhibition.
