Two tourists trapped under snow, injured at Turkey ski resort

KARTEPE, Turkey – Two people have been injured after being trapped under snow that fell from the roof of a hotel in Kartepe, a ski center in Turkey’s northwestern province of Kocaeli.

KARTEPE, Turkey – Two people have been injured after being trapped under snow that fell from the roof of a hotel in Kartepe, a ski center in Turkey’s northwestern province of Kocaeli.

Four people were trapped under the 1.5-meter snow pile after it fell from the roof of a building belonging to the facility of Green Park Resort Otel, while two of the tourists were injured.

The trapped tourists were recovered from under the snow by teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), while people who witnessed the incident rushed to rescue them.

The recovered tourists were taken to a nearby hospital. The local gendermerie forces have launched an investigation into the incident.
