The budgetary allocation for the Fiji tourism industry has been a constant figure since 2009 which is $23.5 million.

The budgetary allocation for the Fiji tourism industry has been a constant figure since 2009 which is $23.5 million.

This is mostly used to manage the marketing budget for Tourism Fiji. Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association President Dixon Seeto says its budget allocation has been sufficient over the years. โ€œWe were hoping for a slightly larger allocation, but like I said, we are pragmatic, and we work with what we have. As chair of Tourism Fiji, Pichler will be making good use of the money allocated to us.โ€

But despite this he says Tourism Fiji will be able to meet their targets in terms of visitor arrivals for next year.” โ€œWe now have a revamp Tourism Fiji structure in terms of managers and using new techniques in terms of social media and having PR consultants and people like that. I think that we are on track for a record arrival figure of 700,000 next year.โ€ Tourism contributes to $1.4m in foreign exchange, the industry provides one in three jobs and contributes to 38 percent of the Gross Domestic Production for the country.
