Vanilla Islands’ founder member Reunion Island is this week taking advantage of being seen at the World Travel Market in London by an estimated 50,000 tourism trade visitors in order to promote the island as one of the world’s leading adventure destinations located in the tropical zone of the Indian Ocean.

Together with Reunion Island Tourism (IRT), home airline, Air Austral, is also exhibiting as are hotels and DMCs to make sure that the recent increase in visitor numbers continues well into 2015.

Given the range of tourism activities on this French Indian Ocean island and in particular the growing emphasis on active adventure holidays which the island offers to visitors besides the more traditional beach vacations, Reunion Island is uniquely positioned to take advantage of demand from the European markets as all the flights from Europe to Reunion Island are “domestic” and require a standard ID instead of a passport for citizens of the European Union.

Air Austral, as home airline based on the island, offers an airpass which allows holders of a long-haul ticket to fly to the other Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands like Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte, and the Seychelles, throwing open the doors of multi-island vacations which allow visitors to sample the different destinations at a very affordable cost.

The Reunion Island stand is headed by Anne Etheve who is responsible for the UK market at IRT. For added details on Destination Reunion click on www.reunion.fr
