At least 55 people ann more than 150 wounded in a suicide bombing close to the Pakistan-India border, police said.

The explosion took place near the Wagah border post, the main road crossing between India and Pakistan and a popular tourist attraction.

People from both sides of the border, as well as international tourists, visit Wagah to watch the daily ‘beating the retreat’ ceremony. The explosion happened at the end of a daily flag-lowering ceremony as people were moving back to their cars.

“The blast has taken place about 500-600 feet from the parade venue … people were standing there and many people were leaving there at the time,” the director general of the Punjab Rangers, Tahir Khan, said.
