The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) is pleased to confirm that the application deadline for the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards 2010 entries, co-sponsored by Travelport and The Leading Travel Companiesโ€™ Conservation Foundation, has been extended until Monday, December 14, 2009.

Last week, WTTC announced that its annual Global Travel & Tourism Summit will be held from May 25-27, 2010 in Beijing, China. The Tourism for Tomorrow Awards have been an integral part of the summit for the past five years, and as the summit dates next year are later than usual in the WTTC events calendar, this has allowed WTTC to extend the awards deadline.

Winners and finalists of the awards will be publicly recognized and will meet government and industry leaders at the awards ceremony during the Global Travel & Tourism Summit. They will also receive outstanding international media exposure, thanks to WTTC’s extensive media partnerships, and be endorsed by a panel of internationally-acclaimed experts in sustainable tourism.

The awards are determined in four categories: Destination Stewardship, Conservation, Community Benefit, and Global Tourism Business.

The Tourism for Tomorrow Awards are endorsed by WTTC members, as well as other organizations and companies. They are organized in association with two Strategic Partners: Travelport and The Leading Travel Companiesโ€™ Conservation Foundation. Other sponsors/supporters include: Adventures in Travel Expo, BEST Education Network, Breaking Travel News, the Daily Telegraph, eTurboNews, Friends of Nature, International Tourism Partnership, National Geographic Adventure, Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), Planeterra, Rainforest Alliance, Reed Travel Exhibitions, Sustainable Travel International, Travelmole, Travesias, TTN Middle East, USA Today, and the World Heritage Alliance.

There are no entry fees, and applications may be submitted online at www.tourismfortomorrow.com . Alternatively, application forms may be obtained from WTTC. Please contact Susann Kruegel, manager, e-strategy and tourism for Tomorrow Awards, via email at [email protected] or by phone at +44 (0) 20 7481 8007.
